Asthma Spacer for kids

An easy to use collapsable asthma spacer for kids that looks cool for school.

I have designed and modeled an asthma spacer for kids that is easy to use, easy to clean, compact, affordable and cool for kids to carry to school. The spacer opens and closes using 2 full easy rotations. When opening the spacer it looks like the rocket is blasting off, which gives the "wow" factor for kids.

At full extension the rubber strings in the side prevent the two halves from falling off. There is a 10 mm overlap between the 2 halves when the rubber string is at full extension to prevent any leakage. The rubber strings are attached to 2 plastic strips tied on the top and bottom bodies. These strips swivel as the body rotates to avoid crossing over of the rubber strings.

The plastic strips are made of nylon 66 which is flexible yet sturdy. They have a hole on one end and a hook on the other so that they can form a loop in themselves. The rubber strings have holes on either ends that attach to the hooks of the plastic strips. The overall package will contain the strips, rubber strings, top and bottom bodies and the silicone rubber intake for the inhaler.

The LBM analysis shows that the complete manufacturing cost of the device will be $5.20 and will be sold for $10, thus being affordable. It will be easy to use and carry due to its small size and collapsible nature. The components can be easily taken apart for cleaning because of their detachable nature.
